It’s hard to believe that the Nonprofit Summer Institute is already over! These five weeks have flown by and I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know each and every one of these nonprofit leaders. The discussion that occurred every week and the relationships that were formed have led to some important learning opportunities that I’m sure will directly impact the nonprofit community in Greensboro, NC. I was really honored to be part of this program because Dr. Palmer never referred to me as her intern, she always referred to me as her co-facilitator. She relied on my expertise in some areas, and would often ask me to talk about the real-life implications of some of these academic theories.

Many of the topics that we covered were things that I had experienced either in my days as an Executive Director or during my time with the American Heart Association. The drastic difference between my teeny-tiny grassroots organization compared to the behemoth organization that I currently work for is always so fascinating to others! I always tell grassroots executive directors that their organizations face many of the same problems that these large organizations experience too!

I only have about a month left in my work experience and we still have so much to accomplish! We are currently working with our top-secret client to perfect some of the resources that they have asked us to revamp. Next week, I’m hoping to be able to share more information about this project!
